A Vault-only account is a Sage Payment Solutions account that is used only for storing credit card numbers; it cannot be used to process credit card transactions. Because credit card numbers are not stored in Sage 100, a Vault-only account is automatically created for storing card numbers associated with a payment type that is not set up for processing through Sage Payment Solutions using Sage Exchange.
A Vault-only account will be automatically created under the following circumstances.
You upgrade to Sage 100 version 5.0 or later, and the prior version of your software had stored credit card numbers, but you were not using Sage Payment Solutions for credit card processing. A Vault-only account is created to store your credit card numbers.
You upgrade to Sage 100 version 5.0 or later, and the prior version of your software had stored credit card numbers. You have an account with Sage Payment Solutions, but you have credit cards using a payment type for which the virtual terminal ID and merchant key do not result in a valid processor connection with Sage Exchange. (The Valid Processor Connection check box in Payment Type Maintenance will be cleared for these payment types.) The credit card numbers associated with these payment types will be transferred to a Vault-only account.
You have a credit card payment type in Payment Type Maintenance that is set up for processing through Sage Exchange. You change the merchant key and/or the virtual terminal ID so that they no longer result in a valid processor connection with Sage Exchange. (The Valid Processor Connection check box will be automatically cleared to reflect this.) The customer credit card numbers will be transferred from your processing account to a Vault-only account.
You create a credit card payment type in Payment Type Maintenance and do not enter a virtual terminal ID and merchant key that results in a valid processor connection with Sage Exchange. (The Valid Processor Connection check will be automatically cleared to reflect this.) You then select this payment type in Customer Credit Card Maintenance, click Add New Card, and enter the credit card information. This credit card, and any others using the same payment type, will be added to a Vault-only account.
If you have a Vault-only account that you want to convert to a processing account for use with Sage Exchange, you must contact Sage Payment Solutions and provide the Vault-only ID and Vault-only key that appear in Company Maintenance.
