Expand/Collapse item  Overview

You can define individual financial reports to assess the health and profitability of your business. After a report has been defined in the Financial Reports Wizard, it can be printed or assigned to a report group. You can also use the Financial Reports Wizard to modify a report after it has been defined.

Expand/Collapse item  Before You Begin

Before creating a financial report, make sure you understand the following concepts:

To create a financial report

  1. Determine the type of financial report to create. For more information about financial report types, see Report FAQs.

  2. Determine the format for the selected report. For more information about financial report formats, see Report FAQs.

  1. Determine how numbers and percentages will print on the report, including:

  2. The number of decimal places to print

  3. The rounding factor used for numbers

Note  For more information on how numbers are rounded in financial reports, see Report FAQs.

  1. The characters to use for decimal and thousands separators

  2. The characters to use for currency symbols

  1. Determine whether or not to print account numbers or zero-balance accounts on the report.

  2. Determine whether to print a footnote at the bottom of the report. Footnotes can be left-justified or centered and can print only on the first page, only on the last page, or on every page of the report.

  3. If you are creating an Income Statement, Quarterly Statement, or Trend Report, determine the range of accounts to print on the report. When selecting accounts to print, you can also print selected account segments.

Note Subaccounts are printed on an income statement if the subaccount's segment is selected to print on the income statement, and the Print Financial Reports check box is selected for the subaccount in the Sub Account Maintenance window. For more information, see Sub Account Maintenance.

  1. Determine which options can be changed when the report is printed. When you allow a setting defined in the wizard to be changed at run time, the defined setting can be overridden by the setting entered in the Print Options dialog box. Options that can be changed at run time include footnotes, Trend Report periods, and account ranges.

  2. When you are ready to create the financial report, select General Ledger Reports menu > Financial Reports.

  3. Click New Financial Report or select an existing report and click the Modify button.

  4. Complete the Financial Reports Wizard using the information you gathered in the previous steps.

The financial report is created and saved.
