Perform a Manual Allocation

To perform a manual allocation, you must create a journal entry in General Journal Entry and select a manual allocation. Manual allocations are defined in Manual Allocation Entry.

 

To perform a manual allocation

  1. Select General Ledger Main menu > General Journal Entry.

  2. In the General Journal Entry window, in the Source Journal field, select a source journal code. For more information, see General Journal Entry - Fields.

  3. In the Entry Number field, enter the number that identifies this journal, and click Copy From.

  4. In the Copy From window, click the Allocation option and click OK. For more information, see Copy From - Fields.

  5. In the Manual Allocation Entry window, in the Allocation Number field, enter an allocation number. For more information, see Manual Allocation Entry - Fields.

  6. In the Source Account field, change the source account for the selected allocation number, if necessary.

  7. In the Source Amount field, enter the amount for the source account, if necessary. You can change the source amount by entering an amount, clicking Current Activity, or clicking Current Balance.

  8. Click Current Activity to display the source account’s current activity for the period.

  9. Click Current Balance to display the ending balance for the period.

  1. Click OK.

  2. To post the allocation, in General Journal Entry, click the Print button. For more information, see General Journal.

An amount from one account is manually allocated to other accounts in the current journal entry. The distribution amounts are calculated automatically but can be changed.
