Warehouse Code Maintenance

Warehouse Code

Enter the warehouse code for the warehouse to add or maintain, or click the Lookup button to list all warehouse codes. You cannot delete the default warehouse code specified in Inventory Management Options.

 

Description

Type a description for this warehouse.

 

Name

Type the location name.

 

Address

Type the location's street address. Click the Map button to view a map of the location in your Web browser.

 

ZIP Code

Type the ZIP Code. If you enter a ZIP or postal code that's not on file, a message asks if it's a new one. Click Yes to open the ZIP Code Maintenance (On the Fly) window and add a new code.

 

City

Type the name of the city. If the ZIP Code field is entered, the city name appears automatically.

 

State

Type the state abbreviation. If a ZIP Code is entered, the state abbreviation appears automatically.

 

Country

Enter the country code, or click the Lookup button to list all country codes. If the ZIP Code field is entered, the country code appears automatically. A new country code can be added on the fly; if a new country code is entered, the Country Code Maintenance (On the Fly) window appears. Access Country Code Maintenance at a later time to maintain the new country code. For more information, see Country Code Maintenance  and Country Code Maintenance (On the Fly).

 

Telephone

Type the location's telephone number, starting with the area code.

 

Ext

Type the telephone extension of this location.

 

Fax

Type the location's fax number, starting with the area code.

Note The fax number must include the area code to process a fax.

 

E-mail Address

Type the e-mail address of this location. Click the E-mail button to launch your e-mail application. The e-mail address defaults automatically to the To section of the e-mail.  

 

Contact

Type the ship-to contact's name.

 

Warehouse Status

Select a status for the warehouse.

  • If you select Active, the warehouse can be selected in any data entry windows.
  • If you select Inactive, the warehouse cannot be selected in any data entry windows.
  • If you select Restricted, the warehouse cannot be selected in any data entry windows unless they are listed in the Allow Entry of Restricted Warehouse window.

    You can use the Restricted Start Date and End Date fields to delay the start of the restricted period or set it to automatically end.

    Click the Allow Restricted Warehouses button to create a list of data entry windows in which this warehouse can be selected.

 

Comment

Enter a comment related to the warehouse status.

 

Restricted Start Date

Enter the starting date for the period that you want the warehouse to be restricted. Click the Calendar button to select a date from the calendar.

This field is available only if Restricted is selected in the Warehouse Status field.

 

End Date

Enter the ending date for the period that you want the warehouse to be restricted. Click the Calendar button to select a date from the calendar.

This field is available only if Restricted is selected in the Warehouse Status field.

 

Post to Location/Department

Enter the subaccount for the segment description defined in the G/L Segment for Whse Postings field on the Inventory Management Options Main tab, or click the Lookup button to list all subaccounts. The selected segment description is appended to this field’s title. The description of the subaccount selected in this field also appears.

The subaccount entered for the selected warehouse serves as a segment substitute. Segment substitution allows you to post inventory items to a substituted account based on the warehouse entered. For more information, see Setting Up Segment Substitution for Inventory Management by Warehouse.

You can only enter a subaccount value that corresponds with the segment selected in the G/L Segment for Whse Postings field on the Inventory Management Options Main tab.

If the subaccount’s size is defined as 3 characters in General Ledger Account Structure Maintenance, and you enter less than 3 characters for the subaccount, the subaccount is zero-filled at the beginning. For example, if you enter 10, the sub account displays as 010. For more information, see General Ledger Account Structure Maintenance.
