Updating Sales Analysis Information for Sales Kits

During the Sales Journal update process, the updating of sales analysis information for a sales kit is handled differently than the updating of sales analysis information for standard items. This prevents doubling any information related to component items.

When a sales kit is sold, the sales amount and quantity sold are recorded for the sales kit item. In the Inventory master file, the Quantity Sold and Dollars Sold fields for the sales kit item are updated with the quantity and dollar amount of sales kits sold. The Cost of Goods Sold field for the sales kit item is updated with the total cost of all component items. The Quantity Received field is also updated with the quantity of the sales kit considered to have been "built" prior to being sold.

Component items included in the sales kit are considered to be "issued" to the sales kit item. The quantity sold for each component item is recorded in the Quantity Issued field in the Inventory master file. The Quantity Sold and Dollars Sold fields are not affected for a component item.

The Customer master file and Customer Sales History files are updated only with the sales amount associated with the sales kit item. The component items are not recorded in the Customer Sales History file. Similarly, the Inventory Sales History file is updated only with the sales amount associated with the sales kit item. The Lot/Serial History file in Sales Order is updated with all lot or serial component items sold as part of a sales kit.
