Chaining or Cycling Jobs

The following information applies to import and export jobs run from a batch file or shortcut.

  • Cycle Mode can only be run from AUTORUN (launched from the console icon). It allows an import or export to be repeated a set number of times after a set time interval has elapsed. If the Cycles field is set to 99, the number of execution loops will not decrement, so the number of cycles is unlimited

  • To cycle more than once, the last job in the chain must chain to the first job in the chain (closed loop).

  • A job chained directly to itself will not chain, unless Cycle Mode - Cycles is set to a non-zero value. This avoids an infinite loop, which is difficult to stop (shutting down the Launcher does not shut down the job).

  • If chaining, and cycles are set up, Cycles must only be set up for the first job in the chain.

  • Chaining is available in AUTORUN and also through panel-driven normal imports. You must click the Accept button in between each job. Clicking the Cancel button on the import panel during a test or actual import causes the chained import to exit the Launcher.

  • When launched from an icon, there are three possible modes: AUTO, DISPLAY, and MANUAL. AUTO runs silently, without any displays, but does update the System Activity Log. DISPLAY mode displays a progress meter, but requires no user interaction. MANUAL mode runs with the Visual Integrator import/export panel, requires user responses, and is useful for testing purposes.
