Use the following information to determine the differences between the quantity on work order (parent item) and the quantity required for work order (component items).

Expand/Collapse item  Quantity on Work Order (Parent Item)

The Quantity on Work Order has the following characteristics.

  • Equals the number of items to be produced on work orders

  • Only applies to top level or parent items of work orders

  • Quantity is reduced as work orders are completed

 

Expand/Collapse item  Quantity Required for Work Order (Component Items)

The Quantity Required for Work Order has the following characteristics.

  • Equals the number of items required to complete work orders

  • Only applies to component or raw materials of work orders

  • Quantity is reduced as material is issued
