A work order template is a basic work order form, including the material and routing definitions required to complete one finished product, which you can use to create standard work orders. Templates cannot accumulate costs or be released to the shop. Due dates cannot be assigned to templates, and templates, travelers, and picking sheets cannot be printed. In addition, you cannot assign a work order template to a sales order or to another work order. Work order templates are identified by a work order number beginning with the letter "T." All work orders that do not begin with the letter "T" are considered to be standard work orders.

Use one of the following methods to create or use a work order template:

To create a work order template

  1. Select Work Order Main menu > Work Order Entry.

  2. In the Work Order Number field, enter a work order number that starts with the letter "T." For more information, see Work Order Entry - Fields.

  3. Complete the information for the template in the same manner as a standard work order. You cannot enter scheduling information for a template. For more information, see Entering Material Information.

To use a work order template

  2. In the Work Order Number field, enter a new work order number. For more information, see Work Order Entry - Fields.
