Expand/Collapse item What is the Xpress Sales Order feature?

The Xpress Sales Order button is available on the RMA Entry Lines tab. It is used to create a new sales order in Sales Order Entry without exiting the RMA Entry window.

Expand/Collapse item When can the Xpress Sales Order feature be used?

The Xpress Sales Order button is available after a line item has been entered on the RMA Entry Lines tab.

Expand/Collapse item Why is the Xpress Sales Order feature used?

The Xpress Sales Order feature is used for replacement items that need to be shipped immediately. After completing data entry on the Lines tab and clicking Accept, a message appears prompting you to create a sales order for cross-shipped items. Click Yes to open the Sales Order Entry window. Click No to accept the RMA without creating a sales order. The sales order is created during the Generate Transactions process.

You can also use the Xpress Sales Order feature to order additional items that are not associated with the current RMA. For example, a customer calls to return an item and also wants to order additional items. After completing data entry in the RMA Entry window for the returned item, click Xpress Sales Order to create a new sales order. The customer information is copied to the new sales order.

Expand/Collapse item How does Xpress Sales Order affect the Sales Order module?

When the Xpress Sales Order button is clicked, the Sales Order Entry window appears automatically. A new sales order is created. A sales order number is assigned using the entry made at Next Automatic Sales Order Number field on the Sales Order Options Main tab.

If there are multiple cross-shipped line items, one sales order is created for all replacement items.

After the sales order is created, it can be modified in the Sales Order Entry window.

Note Changes made to a sales order created using the Xpress Sales Order feature will not affect the RMA.

Expand/Collapse item How is quantity-on-hand checking performed for cross-shipped items?

If the Perform Qty On Hand Checking for Replacements check box is selected on the RMA Options Main tab and the Back Orders check box is selected for the item code in the Inventory Management Item Maintenance window, quantity-on-hand checking is performed.

Note If part of the replacement quantity is not available for that item, the portion not available is backordered (if the item code allows backorders). For example, the value in the Return Qty field on the RMA Entry Lines tab is "10," but there are only five items in the warehouse. On the Sales Order Entry Lines tab, there will be a quantity of 10 items in the Ordered field and 5 items in the Back Ordered field.

Note If the Perform Qty on Hand Checking for Replacements check box is selected on the RMA Options Main tab, but back orders are not allowed for the replacement item, the entire return quantity is written to the ordered quantity.

Note When an Xpress sales order is created for cross-shipped items on an RMA and that same RMA is retrieved, if another item code is entered and flagged as a cross ship and if another Xpress sales order is created, a new sales order is created.
