Use Account Entry to search for an account and to select an account for data entry.

 

To select an account

  1. In a data entry window, at the Account No. field, press CTRL+F3.

  2. In the Account Entry window, enter an account number in the Account No. field or enter the Value field for each segment in the grid. For more information, see Account Entry - Fields. To select an account, the account must exist and the account must be valid according to the following criteria:

    Expand or collapse item  If you entered an account that does not exist

    • **Not on File** appears next to the Account No. field and you must either enter an account number that does exist or create the account. For more information, see Create an Account in Account Entry.

     

    Expand or collapse item  If you entered an account that does exist but is invalid

    You must enter another account. Examples of invalid accounts follow:

    • **Not Active** appears next to the Account No. field indicating that the account has either an inactive status or deleted status and cannot be selected.

    • **Not Financial** appears next to the Account No. field indicating that the account is a non-financial type account and cannot be selected because you are creating an entry for a financial source journal.

    • **Not Non-Financial** appears next to the Account No. field indicating that the account is a financial type account and cannot be selected because you are creating an entry for a non-financial source journal.

  3. When the account number exists and is valid, click OK.

The account is selected for data entry.
