Release Transactions

Use the release transaction to begin processing work orders and to allow additional transactions to be posted against work orders. A release transaction must be entered and updated prior to entering any other transaction for the work order.

When a release transaction is updated, the work order status is changed from "firm planned" to "released." Until a work order is released to the shop, it is considered "firm planned" and cannot have transactions posted against it.

After a work order is released, it is considered to be a production order that authorizes the shop to produce products. Multiple work orders can be released during one transaction, or you can create a new transaction for each work order released.

When work orders are released, other activities in the Work Order module can be initiated based on selections in the Work Order Options window (for example, picking sheets can be selected for printing automatically) and in the Work Order Entry window (for example, material, labor, and outside processing transactions can be generated automatically for work orders using the Automatic issue method). A released work order cannot be deleted, and you cannot delete operation steps or material lines.
