After you create an attachment type in the eBusiness Manager module, you must add an attachment to an Internet item in the Inventory Management module. After you complete this procedure, test the attachment from the Internet Information Server (IIS).

Use Internet Item Attachments to identify up to eight attachments to be associated with an Internet item.

After you add an attachment to an Internet item, you must test the attachment.

You must have created one or more attachment types in Web Template Options. For more information, see Create an Attachment Type.

 

To add an attachment to an Internet item

  1. Select Inventory Management Main menu > Item Maintenance.

  2. In the Item Code field, select the item to which you are adding the attachment. For more information, see Item Maintenance - Fields.

  3. On the Additional tab, select the Internet Enabled check box.

  4. At the More button, click the drop-down button and then select IT Item.

  5. In the Internet Item window, click Attachments.

  1. In the Internet Item Attachments window, in the HREF field, type the HREF link of the Web page or document. This can be a URL or a path relative to the Web page location on the IIS. For more information, see Internet Item Attachments - Fields.

Note  The Internet Item Attachments window displays attachment types based on the attachment descriptions entered in eBusiness Manager Web Template Options. If an attachment title is not specified, this area is left blank and the corresponding HREF and Link Description fields are disabled.

Note  If you typed a document path in the HREF field, you must FTP that document to your IIS location if you have a firewall between the IIS and the Web engine. The IIS location is entered in eBusiness Manager Options.

  1. In the Link Description field, type the text for this link. You can also enter an image in this field.

  2. Click OK. In the Internet Item window, click Accept.

  3. To test the attachment, open your browser and navigate to your Item Detail page on the Internet.

  4. Click the attachment link created.

The attachment is added to the Internet item.

If you entered "Web Page" as an attachment type in eBusiness Manager Web Template Options, the title "Web Page" appears in the Internet Item Attachments window and the corresponding HREF and Link Description fields are enabled.

If you are creating a link to the www.example.com Web site for the selected item, type <A HREF = www.example.com>. You can also create a link to a document for the selected item by typing the document's path. For example,

<A HREF = www.example.com/Example.doc> or

<A HREF=../Folder/Example.doc>

If you are creating a link to www.example.com, type "Click to see the Examples Web page." If you are creating a link to a Word document, type "Click here to see the example specification."
