Data File Display and Maintenance - Edit
Select the data field or type the variable index (for example, 01 through 99) corresponding to the data field to maintain. For most files, the first variable (index=1) is the string variable for the record followed by several numeric variables (index=2 …99). You can enter a variable index for a string field or a numeric field.
Type the starting string position of the record to be modified. This field is available only if the Formatted Display check box is cleared in the Data File Display and Maintenance window.
You can click Match String to select the record to be modified by entering matching text instead of the starting position.
Click the Match String button and then type the characters matching the data you want to replace. Make sure the match string entered is at least as long as the replacement string.
This field is available only if the Formatted Display check box is cleared in the Data File Display and Maintenance window.
Type the numeric value by which to expand or decrease the length of an existing string. This field is available only if the Formatted Display check box is cleared in the Data File Display and Maintenance window.
This field displays the current value of the data, and can only be viewed.
Type the replacement data.
