You can validate an existing field in Sage 100 against a UDT.

For multiline fields, when the Lookup button is clicked for the field during data entry, the Lookup window that appears is automatically populated with the data in the UDT.

  • To validate a field against a UDT, the UDT must be set up with a key field length that is equal to the length of the field you are setting up validation for.

  • UDT validation is available only if the field is not predefined to validate against another table by default.

  • Validation can be set for all users and all companies only, not for individual users or companies.

  • This procedure applies to standard fields only. UDT validation for user-defined fields (UDFs) can be defined in User-Defined Fields. For more information, see User-Defined Fields.

Expand or collapse item Example of validating a field against a UDT

An example of validating a standard field against a UDT is creating a UDT for customer types, and then setting the CustomerType field in the Accounts Receivable Customer Master table to validate against the UDT. When the Lookup button is clicked in the Customer Type field in Customer Maintenance, the Lookup window displays the data maintained in the customer type UDT.
