Customer Template

Enter a customer template name, or click the Lookup button to list all customer templates. The Default customer template name cannot be modified or deleted.

 

Description

Type a description to use for the customer template.

 

Terms Code

Enter a default terms code, or click the Lookup button to list all terms codes. An entry in this field is required. The default terms code is 00 for no terms.

A new terms code can be added on the fly. The Terms Code Maintenance (On the Fly) window appears; some non-essential fields are omitted to speed data entry. Access Terms Code Maintenance at a later time to complete the remaining entries for a new terms code.

 

Ship Code

Enter a default shipping method, or click the Lookup button to list all shipping codes defined in Shipping Rate Maintenance.

 

Price Level

Type a default price level code to use for establishing quantity level discounts.

 

Discount Rate

Type the discount rate to use for establishing different discount schedules. The rate entered in this field is entered as the default discount rate in data entry windows when the customer is selected in the Customer No. field in the data entry window.

 

Payment Type

Enter the payment type to use as the default for sales orders and invoices, or click the Lookup button to list all payment types defined in Payment Type Maintenance. Credit card payment types cannot be entered in this field.

 

Credit Limit

Type the credit limit to assign to customers by default. If no credit limit is assigned, type 0 (zero). You are alerted during Invoice Data Entry when a customer’s balance exceeds the credit limit established in this field. This field is available only if Customer's Credit Limit Only, Aging Category Only, or Both is selected in the Credit Limit Checking field in Accounts Receivable Options.

 

Credit Hold

Select this check box to place customers on credit hold by default. When the customer number is entered during Invoice Data Entry, the Customer Credit History window appears, along with a CUSTOMER ON CREDIT HOLD message. The ON CREDIT HOLD message appears on the Aged Invoice Report, Cash Expectation Report, Customer Sales Analysis, and Trial Balance Report. Clear this check box if the customer is not on credit hold. This check box is available only if Customer's Credit Limit Only, Aging Category Only, or Both is selected in the Credit Limit Checking field in Accounts Receivable Options.

 

Open Item Customer

Select this check box to use the Open Item billing method for customers by default. Clear this check box to use the Balance Forward billing method. This field is available only if Mixed is selected in the Open Item or Balance Forward field in Accounts Receivable Options. If Open Item is selected in the Open Item or Balance Forward field, this check box is selected and cannot be cleared. If Balance Forward is selected in the Open Item or Balance Forward field, this check box is cleared and cannot be selected.

 

Finance Charge Rate

Type a default finance charge rate for customers.

  • If Fixed is selected in the Computation Method field in Accounts Receivable Options, type a standard fixed amount.

  • If Percent is selected in the Computation Method field, type a standard percentage rate.

This field is available only if Fixed or Percent is selected in the Computation Method field in Accounts Receivable Options.

 

Sort

Type the default information to use for sorting reports. This sort field provides an additional method of sorting customer information on reports.

Type an abbreviation of the customer name in this field for alphabetical sorting, or type an abbreviation of the customer’s industry to sort reports by similar types of businesses.

 

Customer Type

Type a default code to identify the customer type. Use customer type codes to group similar types of customers. Many reports can also be sorted by customer type.

If you assign the same code to customers who receive catalogs at the same time, you can specify the customer type for printing the mailing labels.

 

Batch Fax

Select this check box to enable batch faxing by default. Clear this check box if you do not want to enable batch faxing. The selection in this check box defaults to data entry windows.

Note The fax number must include the area code to process a fax.

 

Statement Cycle

Type the default code to use in Statement Printing when selecting the group of customers for printing statements. This field is available only if the Print Customer Statements check box is selected in Accounts Receivable Options.

Statement cycle M might be used for monthly statements and B for bimonthly statements. Alternately, you could set up a plan where a quarter of the total statements are printed each week. In this case, all customers beginning with the letters A-F could be cycle A (or 1); G-L could be cycle B (or 2); M-R could be cycle C (or 3); a nd S-Z could be cycle D (or 4).

 

Print Dunning Message

Select this check box to print a reminder message for past due balances on the customer’s statement. The actual message to print on the statement is entered in Statement Printing. Clear this check box if you do not want to print a dunning message. This field is available only if the Print Customer Statements check box is selected in Accounts Receivable Options.
