Expand/Collapse item What are the different modes in which the Business Insights Dashboard can be launched?

There are two modes in which the Business Insights Dashboard can be launched: Maintenance mode and User mode. The following information explains the differences between the two modes.

  • Maintenance mode is used when accessing Business Insights Dashboard from the Business Insights menu. Using Dashboard Maintenance Wizard, the administrator determines if a user can modify their own Dashboard. The administrator selects which data elements are available for the users and whether the data element should be shown or hidden by default when the user displays their Dashboard.   • User mode is used when accessing Business Insights Dashboard from the Home page. In User mode, only the user's Dashboard is available for modification. The Modify This Dashboard link appears in the header of the Dashboard if the administrator selected the Allow User to Modify Their Dashboard option while setting up user options in Dashboard Maintenance Wizard. If the user has the ability to modify their own Dashboard, they can only use data elements that have been selected by the administrator in Maintenance mode.

    Users can select or remove data elements from their Dashboard, change the layout and order of the data elements, and modify the settings of the data elements that have these settings available. For more information, see View or Modify Dashboard Home and Web Pages.

 

 

Expand or collapse item How can I make sure that I see the latest updates on Business Insights reports if another person performs an update?

If you launch the Business Insights reports or pages while another user performs a Business Insights update, inconsistencies may occur when you view a new page. In this case, you should use the Refresh option within your browser. If you access a report or page before the generation process is complete, you will see the data generated based on that date. After the generation process is complete, all the original templates are removed and replaced by new pages generated on the new date. As a result, you see pages generated on the new date, with different data being displayed. If you click the Back button, you will see the previous page.

 

Note Because .htm files can be launched using the operating system, the appropriate permissions should be set in Windows Explorer for the ..\Mas90\Htmlout\Xxx folder.

Typically, an administrator will set up the Dashboards for users using the Dashboard Maintenance Wizard. The administrator determines on a user-by-user basis whether to show or hide the various data elements that are available.
