Expand/Collapse item  Overview

The method of using price codes with customer price levels entails price codes with more than one price schedule. These multiple price schedules are based on the customer price level assigned to each customer in the Accounts Receivable Customer file. Price codes with customer price levels are useful if you have a number of customers who receive identical pricing schedules.

To define price codes with customer price levels

  1. Select Inventory Management Setup menu > Price Code Maintenance.

  2. In the Price Code field, enter an existing price code. Standard appears next to the Price Level field. For more information, see Price Code Maintenance - Fields.

  3. In the Price Level field, enter a price level.

  4. In the Pricing Method field, select the pricing method.

  5. In the grid, type the discount or markup rates and the "to quantity" values for up to five quantity breaks. The values in the From Quantity fields are set automatically.

  6. Click Accept.

During Sales Order processing, if a customer is not assigned a price level established for an item's price code, the standard price level schedule for the price code is used for that customer.

Item Widget-20 has a standard price of $6.00, a standard cost of $3.00, and an assigned price code of CCCC.

If 10 units of Widget-20 are sold to a customer with price level A, the sale price is 60% over the standard cost or $4.80 per unit ($3.00 + 60% * $3.00 = $4.80).

If 10 units of Widget-20 are sold to a customer with price level C, the sale price is 75% over the standard cost or $5.25 per unit ($3.00 + 75% * $3.00 = $5.25).

If 10 units of Widget-20 are sold to a customer without an assigned price level, the standard price level schedule for price code CCCC is used, and the sale price is 50% over the standard cost or $4.50 per unit ($3.00 + 50% *$3.00 = $4.50).
