Expand/Collapse item  Overview

You can customize templates to include additional fields from other tables, including user-defined fields (UDFs) defined in the Customizer module. Fields such as check boxes, formatted numbers and dates, and codes translated into descriptions can be added to your Web pages. You can add fields to the body of the Web page and to dynamically filled tables.

  • Standard tables are available in each template. Additional tables are available for a template when the Include Customizations and Include Table Customizations check boxes are selected for the template in the Template Maintenance window. For a list of additional tables available when each of these check boxes is selected, see Available Tables for Templates.

  • Before adding UDFs to templates, determine the tables on which the UDFs will reside.

  • Before customizing a template, make a copy of the template provided in the IW folder on the Web Engine. After modifying the template, access Template Maintenance and change the template name entered for the Template Code to the new template name of the copied template. When you upgrade your software, the standard templates are overwritten. Modifying a copy of the template allows you to keep your customized templates when the software is upgraded.

To add fields to a template

  1. If you are adding UDFs defined in the Customizer module, create the UDFs as necessary in the Customizer module. For more information, see Create a User-Defined Field.

Note  If you are linking UDFs between tables, make sure the UDF is mapped to the table in User-Defined Field and Table Maintenance in the Customizer module. For more information, see User-Defined Field and Table Maintenance.

  1. Prepare a list of tokens to add to the templates. For more information, see Using Tokens.

  2. In an HTML editor, open the applicable templates and add the token(s).

  3. If you are adding a JavaScript function, you must add the function to the applicable templates. For more information, see Using eBusiness Manager JavaScripts.
