Note This topic applies only to printing in the Material Requirements Planning and Work Order modules.
The following are definitions for the matrix.
Form Length (actual physical length of paper being used)
Continuous-feed forms (for example, dot-matrix printers) in DOS or Windows: Most forms print 6 lines per inch. If you are using 8.5- x 7-inch forms or paper, 42 lines is the form length (6 lines per inch x 7 inches = 42 lines).
Noncontinuous-feed forms (for example, laser, ink-jet, thermal, or other page printers) in Windows: In addition to the continuous-feed form rules explained above, the Windows printer driver accounts for the unprintable area at the top and bottom of the page in form length considerations. As a result, several lines must be subtracted from the form length. For most printers, 42 lines are optimal. Some printers may need a lower value if the Windows printer driver margin settings have higher top or bottom margins.
Lines/Page
This setting indicates the physical number of lines the printer can support for the paper being used. The default lines-per-page value is 60 when setting up a new device in Device Configurator. This setting may need to be changed to 42 for custom forms.
If Physical Device is selected in the Device Type field in Device Configurator, the Auto check box is unavailable.
If Windows Printer or Windows Printer Port is selected in the Device Type field and the Auto check box is selected, the Lines/Page field is unavailable. In addition, the number of lines for the Windows printer driver selected in the Driver Code field setting in Device Configurator is used automatically.
