Use this task to create a combined deduction limit code that includes more than one deduction code. You can create a combined 401K deduction limit code that includes both regular 401K and 401K Roth deductions.
For example, for tax year 2025, the IRS 401K deduction limit is $23,500. This limit applies to both regular 401K and 401K Roth deductions combined. If an employee contributes 10% of gross wages to a regular 401K deduction and another 10% to a 401K Roth deduction, the limit of $23,500 applies to both deductions combined. This task enables you to create a combined 401K deduction limit code.
Note To include deduction codes in a combined limit code, the Reset Balance at Year End check box must be selected in Deduction Code Maintenance for each deduction code.
When you click Accept, the standard limit for each deduction included in the combined limit code is updated in Deduction Code Maintenance. The employee goal in Deduction Detail (accessed from the Employee Maintenance Deductions tab) is updated only when you click Apply to apply the combined limit to employees.
Click the Print button to print the Combined Deduction Limit Listing.
