Lookup Feature

List Box

Click a column heading twice to sort the data in reverse order. Click a column heading to sort the list by that criteria. An arrow next to the heading indicates the current sort order. Double-clicking a line in the list box selects the line item.

Search

Select which column to search. Select Full Text to search all columns.

Operand

Enter the search operand for the lookup.

This field is not available if <default> or Full Text is selected in the Search field, or if the column selected in the Search field is a "yes/no" type column. If the column selected is a "yes/no" type column, the Operand field defaults to Equal to.

To search for fields that do not contain a value, select Is Empty.

The operands Greater Than and Less Than function as Greater Than and Equal to and Less Than and Equal to, respectively. For example, to look for a number greater than zero, select Greater Than as your operand and enter .01 as your value.

NOTE  When searching on account numbers that are set up with less than 9 characters, no accounts will appear if "Equal to" or "Ends with" is used as the operand.

Value

Enter the search value for the lookup. If a value has been entered and the Search field or the Operand field is changed, the Value field will clear. If a value has been entered in the Search field is changed to <default>, the value clears when a column is reselected. In addition, the Operand field returns to the "Begins with" default setting.

This field is not available if <default> is selected in the Search field or if Range or Is Empty is selected in the Operand field. This field is also not available if the column selected in the Search field is a "yes/no" type column.

Note Alternate separators (such as ~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) - = [ ] \ ; " / _ + { } | : < > ?) can be used to separate multiple values in place of the reserved comma (,) character, except when using the Less than, Greater than, or Range operand.

From/To Value

When the setting in the Operand field is Range, these fields are used to enter the "from" and "to" search values for the lookup. This field is available only if the setting in the Operand field is set to Range.

View

This field is available only if you created multiple views for the lookup. Select standard to view the original, unmodified view provided by the software or select any other created view. An asterisk (*) appears next to the view that has been defined as the default.
