Warehouse Grouping Maintenance
Enter a warehouse group code, or click the Lookup button to list all warehouse group codes. Any warehouse not included in this list will not be considered when calculating projected on-hand quantities. In the event that there is only one site, enter all warehouses to be included in the on-hand calculations. The system treats each group separately, so that for two groups you receive two sets of recommendations on the MRP Report.
Type the description of the warehouse group code.
Select the warehouse type.
Select Transfer to identify this warehouse as a transfer warehouse. A Transfer warehouse is a non-manufacturing warehouse used to transfer finished goods between warehouses.
Select Standard to identify this warehouse as a standard warehouse. A Standard warehouse is a manufacturing warehouse where raw materials are received and finished goods are produced. A standard warehouse meets the demand for items by making or ordering the necessary materials.
If you have a warehouse from which you do both your manufacturing and distribution, classify it as a standard warehouse.
Note A warehouse group defined as a warehouse type transfer can only have source groups that are standard warehouse types.
Enter a warehouse code, or click the Lookup button to list all warehouse codes. If the warehouse code specified in Warehouse Grouping Maintenance does not exist in the Warehouse Detail file for an item, the Auto Generate Work Orders Update will create the Warehouse Detail record for the item.
Note A warehouse code can only belong to one warehouse group.
Enter the source group code, or click the Lookup button to list all source group codes. This field is available only if Transfer is selected in the Warehouse Type field. Transfer warehouses meet their demands by recommending the transferring of goods from a warehouse group that contains standard warehouses only. Source groups can contain only Standard warehouse types.
