Delete an Account

You can delete accounts, main accounts, or subaccounts.

 

To delete an account

  1. Select General Ledger Utilities menu > Delete Accounts.

  2. In the Operand field, select an operand to specify account numbers to delete. For more information, see Delete Accounts - Fields.

  3. In the Value field, enter a value that corresponds with the operand. If you selected Range in the Operand field, in the second Value field, enter an ending range for the account or subaccount.

  4. To preview the Delete Accounts Listing before deleting the accounts, click the Print button.

  5. Click Proceed. You are prompted to delete the accounts selected.

  6. Click Yes. Accounts selected that do not have activity or budget data are immediately deleted. Accounts selected that have activity are marked as deleted and will be removed during year-end processing based on activity and the selection in the Years to Retain General Ledger History field in the General Ledger Options window. You are prompted to print the Deletion Log.

  7. Click Yes to print the Deletion Log.

The accounts selected are deleted and the appropriate system files are updated. Main accounts can be deleted in Main Account Maintenance and sub accounts can be deleted in Sub Account Maintenance.
