After you create or modify formats for columns, the formatting can be saved to a Class Format Definition (.ecf) file and loaded when needed.

To save or load a class format definition

  1. Select Business Insights Explorer menu, and then select a view.

  2. Use one of the following methods to format the settings for columns of data in the Data View grid:

  • In the Business Insights Explorer window, select  Edit menu > Format Settings. The Format Settings window appears.

  • In the Business Insights Explorer window, select Edit menu > Column Settings. In the Column Settings window, in the Format field, select the format type and select the Use Column Level Formatter check box.

  1. In the Date, Number, Currency, Boolean, or Named Value fields, select the format mask to use. For more information, see Format Settings – Fields or Column Settings – Fields.

  2. To apply a color tag to the number format, right-click the field and select Insert Color Tag.

    Note
Color tags are inserted at the beginning of the format string. For multi-part values (separated by semicolons), the color tag is inserted at the beginning of the section regardless of where your cursor is located in the section.

  3. Click Save to save the format settings in a Class Format Definition (.ecf) file. The Save Class Format Definition window appears. Locate the folder to save the file in and click Save.

  4. In the Format Settings or the Column Settings window, click OK.

The format class definition is saved or loaded.

Click Load in the Format Settings or Column Settings window to use the formatting settings that were saved.
