You can use the Lot/Serial Number Distribution task to distribute transaction quantities to one or more lots or a range of serial numbers.

To distribute transaction quantities to lots or a range of serial numbers

  1. In any data entry window that allows lot and serial distribution, click the Lines tab.

  2. Select the line item with quantities that need to be distributed.

Note A yellow exclamation point appears next to the line number indicating the line item must be distributed.

You must distribute sales order lines with lot or serial items if the Require Lines to be Fully Distributed check box is selected in Sales Order Options.

  3. If the Lot/Serial Number Distribution window does not open, click the Lot/Serial Distribution button.

  4. In the Lot Number/Serial Number field, enter the lot or serial numbers for this distribution. For more information, see Lot/Serial Number Distribution - Fields.

You can also click the Add Serial Numbers button to create new serial numbers for items that are being added back to stock. The Add Serial Numbers task is available only for serial items.

Note If items or the lots they're assigned to are expired, or if they fall outside of the sell-by, use-by, or return by dates (whichever is applicable), you cannot select those items unless you have the appropriate security setup. For more information, see Expiration Dates for Lot and Serial Items.

  5. In the Distribute field, enter the total lot or serial number amount to be distributed.

You can also click the Select Serial Numbers button to select the available serial numbers to be distributed.

Note The Select Serial Numbers task is available only for serial items.

  6. Click OK.

The transaction quantities are distributed.
