An expiration date can be added for items with lot or serial numbers when the item is received into inventory or produced through Bill of Materials. Expiration dates can be manually entered, or you can enter settings to automatically calculate them. You can also add or change expiration dates using the Change Lot and Serial Expiration Dates utility.
You can calculate sell-by, use-by, and return dates to determine how many days before or after an item's expiration date it can be distributed.
Note This feature is available only for subscription customers.
The expiration date feature must be enabled in Inventory Management Options, and the related settings are entered in this task. However, you can override the settings for product lines and individual items in Product Line Maintenance and Item Maintenance.
For more information, see Set Up Expiration Dates for Lot and Serial Items.
