Set Up Enhanced Scheduling

Enhanced Scheduling uses the forward or backward scheduling method to determine when each step of a work ticket should be started and how long each step takes to complete. Use the following process to set up Enhanced Scheduling.

Define setup options

  1. Select Production Management > Setup > Production Management Options.
  2. On the Schedule tab, select the Enable Enhanced Scheduling check box.
  3. Enter the maximum number of months the work ticket can be scheduled without interruption.
  4. Define closures to use for all work centers, and then click Accept.

You can now define work centers.

Define work centers

  1. Select Production Management > Setup > Work Center Maintenance.
  2. Enter the work center code and description.
  3. Enter the queue time, efficiency percent, number of workers or machines, and minimum scheduling time period for the work center. For more information, see Work Center Maintenance.
  4. At Available Hours, enter the number of hours the work center is available each day of the week.
  5. Define closures specific to the work center.
  6. Click Accept, and then define more work centers as needed.

You can now use the work centers when defining activity codes.

Define activity codes

  1. Select Production Management > Setup > Activity Code Maintenance.
  2. Enter the activity code, select a work center, and then enter the activity code description.
  3. On the Main tab at Enhanced Scheduling, select the calculation method to use when scheduling the activity and set the option for queue time. For more information, see Activity Code Maintenance.
  4. Enter the remaining information for the activity code.
  5. Click Accept, and then define more activity codes as needed.

You can now create work ticket templates.

Create work ticket templates

You can create a work ticket template with enhanced scheduling options defined, and then apply the template to work tickets. This optional procedure speeds data entry when creating work tickets in Work Ticket Entry.

  1. Select Production Management > Setup > Work Ticket Template Maintenance.
  2. Enter the template number, revision number, step number, and description for the step.
  3. On the Additional tab, select a scaling method and enter the remaining scaling fields. For more information, see Work Ticket Template Maintenance.
  4. At Enhanced Scheduling, select a calculation method to use for scheduling the work ticket step and enter the remaining enhanced scheduling fields.

    Note The Production Start Date and Production Due Date fields do not apply when creating a template with enhanced scheduling.

  5. Enter the remaining information for the template, and then click Accept.
  6. Create more work ticket templates as needed.
