Benefit Accrual

From Prev. Periods

This field displays the number of benefit hours available from previous periods.

 

Eligible in…

Enter the number of benefit hours available in the month displayed.

 

Elig. as of…

This field displays the number of benefit hours available as of the Payroll accounting date displayed. This field can only be viewed.

 

Total

This field displays the total number of eligible benefit hours, and can only be viewed.

 

Hours Accrued

Enter the number of hours accrued for the year for the benefit type. If Accrual is selected in the Base Benefit Availability on field in Payroll Options, the available hours (hours accrued) will be recalculated and displayed in the Available field every time this field is changed.

This field is updated automatically as earnings are processed for this employee. You may want to enter information in this field if you are converting your Payroll at a time other than the beginning of the Payroll year.

 

Carry-Over

Enter the total number of hours carried over from the previous year for this benefit type.

 

Hours Used

Enter the number of hours used to date for the benefit type. This field is updated automatically as earnings for this benefit are processed for this employee. You may want to enter information in this field if you are converting your payroll at a time other than the beginning of the payroll year. The available hours are recalculated and displayed in the Available field every time this field is changed.

 

Available

This field displays the number of hours available for the benefit type, and can only be viewed. This amount is calculated by subtracting the amount in the Hours Used field from the amount in the Hours Accrued or Annual Limit field, and then adding the number of carry-over hours from the previous year.

 

Annual Limit

This field displays the hours per year established for your employees in Benefit Schedule Maintenance. You can enter a different annual limit.

Note A zero amount in the Annual Limit field for a benefit type indicates that the benefit is not being accrued for the employee.

 

Accrual Rate

This field displays the accrual rate obtained from Benefit Schedule Maintenance, and can only be viewed.

 

Accrual Method

This field displays the accrual method obtained from Benefit Schedule Maintenance, and can only be viewed.
