TimeClock Punch In/Punch Out Features

Expand/Collapse all Show/Hide All

TimeClock Punch In/Punch Out can be accessed directly from your operating system command prompt by using a script or batch file. The employee must enter the appropriate employee number (or Social Security number) to punch in or out. It the Require Password check box is selected in the TimeCard & TimeClock Options window, the Enter Password dialog box appears. Employee passwords are established in TimeCard Employee Maintenance. If the Rapid Entry feature is used, each time a valid employee number is entered (and password, if required), the next logical punch action takes place automatically.

The following features are available in TimeClock Punch In/Punch Out.

Expand/Collapse item  Punch In and Out

In the TimeClock Punch In/Punch Out window, click Punch In to punch in or Punch Out to punch out. During punch in, the employee does not have access to any fields other than Employee and/or SSN (depending on the option selected in the Default Punch In Method field in the TimeCard & TimeClock Options window).

Expand/Collapse item  Lunch Punch

In the TimeClock Punch In/Punch Out window, click In from Lunch to punch back in from lunch or Out for Lunch to punch out for lunch. If the Punch Out for Lunch check box is selected in the TimeCard & TimeClock Options window, fields relating to lunch appear in the TimeClock Punch In/Punch Out window. If the shift code assigned to the employee punching in does not have lunch periods defined, the lunch fields appear, but you are not prompted to enter lunch periods in these fields.

Note TimeCard reports do not print lunch punches; however, the Hours Worked figure does include the lunch period deduction.

For main punch in/out times, the times in the Elapsed and Recorded columns in the TimeClock Punch In/Punch Out window do not reflect time taken for a lunch period; the lunch period times appear in the Lunch row below the main punch in/out times. Lunch period, elapsed time, and recorded time information appears on the TimeCard Entry and Edit Main tab if an employee's shift code is set up for lunch punches. The lunch punch times cannot be changed.

Expand/Collapse item  Out for the Day

In the TimeClock Punch In/Punch Out window, click Out for the Day to punch out for the day.

Expand/Collapse item  Cancel

In the TimeClock Punch In/Punch Out window, click Cancel to exit TimeClock Punch In/Punch Out without recording a punch.

Expand/Collapse item  Changing Job Numbers

In the TimeClock Punch In/Punch Out window, click Job to change job numbers. If the Integrate with Job Cost check box is selected in the TimeCard & TimeClock Options window, the Job Number and Cost Code fields appear. A shortcut is available for changing job numbers without having to punch out and then back in again. You can designate a repunch button to appear in the TimeClock Punch In/Punch Out window by entering a prompt in the Prompt for Repunch field in the TimeCard & TimeClock Options window. If you use repunches primarily to change job numbers, you might enter Job as the button name.

For example, an employee who is ready to punch out of a particular job will click the Job button and enter a job number in the Job Number field to apply to the elapsed time. After the job number is entered, the employee is punched out of the specified job number but remains punched in to TimeClock.

Expand/Collapse item  Maintain Tab Settings

In the TimeClock Punch In/Punch Out window, click Tabs to set default tab settings for the fields in the TimeClock Punch In/Punch Out window. The tabs selected here determine those fields that you can tab to during punch in/punch out.
