OverviewThe Production Management Setup Wizard provides several pages of questions and options to help you set up the Production Management module for a new company.
Before you beginBefore setting up Production Management, the following steps should be completed:
- Set up General Ledger and enter the chart of accounts.
- Set up Inventory Management and enter inventory item information.
If you plan to integrate these other modules with Production Management, set them up first.
- Purchase Order
- Bill of Materials
- Payroll, including department codes, earnings codes, and employee information
- Accounts Payable, including vendor information
Run the setup wizard
Select Production Management > Setup > Production Management Options.
The wizard automatically starts if the module has not been setup.
- Complete the steps in the wizard.
The data files for the company have been created. Other set up steps are also required, such as creating activity codes and work ticket classes. Use the tasks on the Production Management Setup menu to complete the setup process.
- Work Ticket Class Maintenance: Create work ticket classes that define different job types.
- Work Center Maintenance: Define work centers.
- Activity Code Maintenance: Create activity codes, which define the various processes that are performed to manufacture a product.
- Work Ticket Template Maintenance: Create templates that contain reusable content that can be used when creating new work tickets.
- Status Code Maintenance: Create status codes that are used to track the progress of work tickets.
- Tooling Code Maintenance: Define tools that are used to complete steps on work tickets.
- Department Maintenance: Create and maintain departments and assign each department an offset account for labor, fixed overhead, and variable overhead.
- Employee Maintenance: If Production Management is not integrated with Payroll, create employee records that can be used to record labor costs in Labor Entry.
- Labor Crew Maintenance: Group employees into labor crews to save time in Labor Entry.
- Earnings Code Maintenance: If either Employees Only or No is selected in the Integrate with Payroll field in Production Management Options, use this task to create separate codes for each earnings type used in Labor Entry.
- Unit of Measure Rounding Maintenance: Specify whether to round quantities up to the next whole number when creating work tickets or work ticket steps and when material calculations do not result in whole numbers.
- User Defined Info Codes Maintenance: After entering at least one user-defined code class in Production Management Options, create user-defined codes that can then hold values for the user-defined information fields set up in Work Ticket Class Maintenance for use in work tickets.
- Attachment Category Maintenance: Maintain attachment category codes and descriptions.
- Memo Manager Maintenance: Manage memos for work tickets, steps, work ticket templates, and history records.
